Linking multiple worksheets
Hi I'm having problems with a workbook with links to other workbooks. I've
checked that links are set-up to update automatically in excel and that calculations are set to auto under options. In order for links to work the source spreadsheets have to be opened and on one or two machines the links won't update at all. All machines are Windows XP sp2 and excel 2003 sp2. I'd really appreciate any help. |

Unfortunately, you're right -- in order for the links to work, the 'source' workbook has to be opened. There is a way to write code that will do that automatically when the 'client' workbook is opened. I've done it, but I'm not good enough at VBA (the programming language) that I'd volunteer to help you except as a last resort. You should post your question in the ExcelProgramming board. With regards to the 1-2 machines that can't open it, I wonder if that's a network access issue? Can they see it and just not open it, or can they not 'see' it at all? Thanks for the reply.
The one or two machines can open both the source and destination workbooks but the cells in the destination workbook don't update. The links show as OK through editlinks but the value doesn't change.
