Hi,
We need more info. What dates, where, how do they relate to the vlookup formula. -- Thanks, Shane Devenshire "paulofqpr" wrote: Hi probably a simple question I am using Vlookup to pull data from one spreadsheet to another i now need to add a field so it only uses the data if the dates match. hi here is a sample:
sheet 1 Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat 01-Jul-07 02-Jul-07 03-Jul-07 04-Jul-07 05-Jul-07 06-Jul-07 07-Jul-07 Terry Aspray Brian Foster Peter Clyne Chris Bamber Michael Heffernan Jim Ash Paul Taylor Chris Keating and th data to populate is taken from : 69 Ryaz Aziz 10-Jul-07 Total: 2 Completed: 0 81 James Bond 10-Jul-07 Total: 1 Completed: 1 81 Dummy Engineer 10-Jul-07 Total: 7 Completed: 7 61 Billy Hannon 10-Jul-07 Total: 6 Completed: 5 67 Russell Woodward 10-Jul-07 Total: 8 Completed: 8 74 Tony Clarke 10-Jul-07 Total: 4 Completed: 2 72 Tony Swan 10-Jul-07 Total: 2 Completed: so the total from 10-jul will populate the correct name and the correct date on sheet 1 Thanks "ShaneDevenshire" wrote: Hi, We need more info. Hi,
So what does July 10 have to do with the data layout on the first sheet which only shows dates form July 1 to July 10? What does the number 69 in the first column of the second sheet have to do with this task? None of the names on the second sheet match those on the first sheet, how do the relate? The last two columns of the second sheet contain Total: 2 and Completed: 0, is this data entered as numbers 2 and 0 or as text "Total: 2"? Which data from the second sheet are you trying to get to the first sheet? (Total: 2 or Completed: 0 or something else? Where should the data go? What do you want to do with it - Sum it, just bring it over or what? If you are just bringing it over do you want it to be just the number or the text "Total: 2"? -- Thanks, Shane Devenshire "paulofqpr" wrote: hi here is a sample: sheet 1 Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat 01-Jul-07 02-Jul-07 03-Jul-07 04-Jul-07 05-Jul-07 06-Jul-07 07-Jul-07 Terry Aspray Brian Foster Peter Clyne Chris Bamber Michael Heffernan Jim Ash Paul Taylor Chris Keating and th data to populate is taken from : 69 Ryaz Aziz 10-Jul-07 Total: 2 Completed: 0 81 James Bond 10-Jul-07 Total: 1 Completed: 1 81 Dummy Engineer 10-Jul-07 Total: 7 Completed: 7 61 Billy Hannon 10-Jul-07 Total: 6 Completed: 5 67 Russell Woodward 10-Jul-07 Total: 8 Completed: 8 74 Tony Clarke 10-Jul-07 Total: 4 Completed: 2 72 Tony Swan 10-Jul-07 Total: 2 Completed: so the total from 10-jul will populate the correct name and the correct date on sheet 1 Thanks "ShaneDevenshire" wrote: Hi, We need more info.
