file.xls is locked for editing by "user"
I am the sole user of this computer. The files are stored on this computer
(Vista Home Premium, Excel 2003) I create an Excel file and save it. I immediately go to the file in Explorer or "Open" in Excel and try to open the file again, but I get the message that "filename.xls is locked for editing by (name)" The name is my own. The only way to open it is to log off and log back in. What's going on? |

You need to allow a bit of time for Excel to realise that it has
finished using the file - I find that 10 seconds or so is sufficient. Hope this helps. Pete On Jun 25, 8:45 pm, Mack Neff wrote: I am the sole user of this computer. Even after several minutes the problem exists. "Pete_UK" wrote: You need to allow a bit of time for Excel to realise that it has finished using the file - I find that 10 seconds or so is sufficient.
