Converting Days to Weeks in Excel

When you have a number of days that you want to convert to weeks with a decimal representing the fraction of a week, you can use the following formula in Excel:

=D3/7.0
  1. Replace "D3" with the cell reference that contains the number of days you want to convert.
  2. The ".0" at the end of the formula will force Excel to treat 7 as a decimal instead of an integer.
  3. Press Enter to calculate the result.

For example, if you have 5 days in cell D3, the formula will give you 0.71 weeks.

Round it, either round, roundup or rounddown depending upon your
requirements.

Are you saying you want the number after the decimal point to be the actual
number of days and not the actual fraction of a week that the number of days
represents?

If you want to divide a number by 7 and get the answer 0.5, then the number
is 3.5.

Bear in mind that when you divide 5 by 7 and see 0.7, that is because you
are displaying only one decimal place. If you increase the number of places
you will see more precision. Similarly when you divide 4 by 7 and see 0.6.
