Data Validation - reference to another workbook
How can I create a drop down list refering data in aonther workbook?
I have created a NAME (says CUSTCODE) referencing a list of customer codes in another workbook. And I would like to make a drop-down list refering this list, using the Data Validation, but it would not allow me to select this reference name. |

You can refer to another file but the other file *must* be open for it to
work. This is usually not desireable. See this for instructions: http://contextures.com/xlDataVal05.html It might be easier if you just put the list in the file you want it in. Thanks for your information. I read that explanation and make the reference
work. Like you said, the issue is to have the other file *open*. Copying the Customer Code to the current workbook will solve the issue, but it will require to update (or refresh) the list every time when the work is open. skysusan "T.
