Using a cell value for a reference
I have a value in a cell. I want to get the value in another cell based on
this value. Say that the value in the first cell (A1) is 25. The cell I want is in column C in this case it would be C25. How do I specify that 25 is a row reference? This is EXACTLY what I want to do. Not some other type of lookup, EXACTLY this. Thanks, Joe B |
Using a cell value for a reference
=INDIRECT("C"&A1)

Another one:
=index(C:C,a1) WFBJoeB wrote: I have a value in a cell. I want to get the value in another cell based on this value. Say that the value in the first cell (A1) is 25. Using a cell value for a reference
JUST GREAT!!!
Xcelsious doesn't support INDIRECT. This tool is SO lacking in functionality. Back to the drawing board.... Joe B "WFBJoeB" wrote: That did it, THANKS!!!!! Joe B "Gary''s Student" wrote: =INDIRECT("C"&A1) -- Gary''s Student - gsnu200721 |
Using a cell value for a reference
Using that how would I reference a cell in another worksheet in the same
document? Thanks, Joe B "Dave Peterson" wrote: Another one: =index(C:C,a1) WFBJoeB wrote: I have a value in a cell. I want to get the value in another cell based on this value. Using a cell value for a reference
Maybe...
=index('Other sheet name here'!x:x,a1) or =index(c:c,'other sheet name here'!a1) WFBJoeB wrote: Using that how would I reference a cell in another worksheet in the same document? Using a cell value for a reference
Dave,
Here's the final working version: =IF(INDEX(data!A:A,$C$4) = $C$1,INDEX(data!D:D,$C$4),"") Thanks again, Joe B "Dave Peterson" wrote: Maybe... =index('Other sheet name here'!x:x,a1) or =index(c:c,'other sheet name here'!a1) WFBJoeB wrote: Using that how would I reference a cell in another worksheet in the same document?
