Selective cell protection

I'm sure a whole lot of people has a certain amount of data with summatories
below, then some more data with other summatories below and so on ad
infinitum with a final total underneath it all. Most likely, they also have
some kind of percentage or calculation in columns to the right or in between
and so on.

When copy-pasting the new data into an old sheet one must either be
extremely careful to copy-paste just the data leaving untouched the
calculation cells for them to survive, otherwise they'd turn into numbers.
When you have a sizeable spreadsheet, this can become very time consuming.

Ideally, one would like a way to somehow "protect" the calculation cells so
that, when someone copy-pastes a dozen columns over them, only the data gets
pasted while the calculation cells remain unaltered.

If someone knows a way to accomplish this and/or knows of an add-in (even if
at a price) that does the trick, I'd appreciate their letting me know.

TIA

By the way.... yes, I know I can Copy-Paste-Formulas, but that doesn't work
if the data (not the summatories at the bottom and the percentage cells on
the sides) are the result of arrays from a table in the originating
spreadsheet I don't want to copy.

What I need is to copy paste the array values while somehow
"protecting"--and therefore leaving intact--the summatories etc.
