How do I move the expand/collapse for rows and columns in Excel?

I need to merge 3 spreadsheets. 2 of them use the expand/collapse rows
feature. I need to insert new rows at the beginning of several groups. How
do I do this? More generally, how do I find informative help on using this
feature?
