Changing the sorting order...
Is there anyway to change to default sort order? I am trying to sort in a
list percentage change from prior year, but in the case when there is no prior year information the display is "N/A", which is fine, but I need it sorted to the bottom of the list when I sort descending. Is there anyway to sort this to the bottom? |

Maybe you could sort ascending first, then select just the non-"N/A" rows and
sort them descending. "Conrad C." wrote: Is there anyway to change to default sort order? Sure you can, just use the Data Sort function off the menu rather than the
Sort Ascending/Descending function from the Autofilter drop-down arrows. "Conrad C." wrote: It was a good idea, but I tried it and it won't let me sort only selected parts of lists. Excel insists on sorting everything in the list regardless of whether it is selected or not. I tried, but as soon as I select the DataSort function, it automatically
selects all the data in the list (which has 4 columns of data, if that matters). I appreciate the help. That might be because Excel is trying to guess what you want to sort. Before
going to Data Sort, highlight the range of cells you want to sort. Then it will work off that range. As I said in the beginning, you'd want to include all the rows with numerical data, but exclude the ones with the "N/A" since they are already at the bottom (after doing the sort ascending). Did that get us there? "Conrad C." wrote: I tried, but as soon as I select the DataSort function, it automatically selects all the data in the list (which has 4 columns of data, if that matters).
