total using months
 

i have a work sheet that i am trying to have it count the total number in
months. I have several different months in the same colom. and need to have
it count the total for that month. if i sell 200 in may and 300 in april
and 20 in june .

example.

a1 17 may 07
a2 17 mar 07
a3 17 apr 07
a4 20 may 07
a5 2 jun 07


total sold in Mar _____
total sold in Apr ______
total sold in May ______
total sold in Jun _________

total using months
 

Try this:

Count Apr
=Sumproduct((month(B2:B10)=4)+0)

Count May
=Sumproduct((month(B2:B10)=5)+0)

Count Jun
=Sumproduct((month(B2:B10)=6)+0)

If the count for each is in column B:
=SUMPRODUCT((MONTH($A$1:$A$5)=3)*($B$1:$B$5))
will total the count for March.

Copy and paste down and change the month number as necessary for additional
months. For example:
=SUMPRODUCT((MONTH($A$1:$A$5)=4)*($B$1:$B$5))
for April

=SUMPRODUCT((MONTH($A$1:$A$5)=5)*($B$1:$B$5))
for May
