Default Return an empty cell instead of "VALUE"

I am trying to figure out how to return an empty cell with the
following formula:

=IF(A9870,ABS(A987-B987)*10000,"")

It turns out that if A987<0, I get "VALUE" as an answer instead of
leaving the cell blank, because understandably 0-0=0. How could I
touch up the formula to leave the cell empty?
