WHAT IS THE MAX NUMBER OF "IF" CONDITIONS POSSIBLE IN ONE FOUMULA
Hi
What are you trying to achieve? The maximum level of nesting in XL2003 and earlier if 7, but has been increased to 256 in XL2007. This limit can be overcome for IF statements, by concatenating as many sets of 7 IF's with the "&" operator. =(first set of 7)&(second set of 7)&(third set of 7) etc. However, using even 7 levels of IF can become very unwieldy and difficult to maintain, and there are usually better solutions available using LOOKUP, VLOOKUP, CHOOSE etc. Post details of what you are trying to achieve, and someone will be able to propose an alternative solution for you. -- Regards Roger Govier "gallie" wrote in message ... as above, what is the max number of "if" conditions available in one formula? i cannot seem to add more than 8?? |
