PICTURE RECOGNITION AS A ALPHA-NUMERIC CHARACTER

This isn't possible. AFAIK the closest you can get to it is to create your
own private character using the Private Character Editor and then select the
character through the character map. This won't be a picture but a minature
bitmap (your own font character) that you can draw.

This private character will also appear in the formula bar unlike if you
just format a character as Wingdings, Marlett etc. I doubt if it will be
adequate because it will be too simplistic and too small. You can increase
the font size on the worksheet so that you can see the detail but this won't
affect the display in the formula bar. Instructions follow:

1. Click the Start button
2. Select Run
3. Type "eudcedit" in the window (exclude quotes)
4. Click OK
5. Select a hex code to associate the special character with
6. Draw the desired character in the editor that pops up
7. Click OK when finished
8. To access the character, call the Character Map. I'll assume you know how
to do this.
9. Select All Fonts (Special Characters) from the font dropdown. The
selection in the dropdown typically defaults to Arial. You need to go to the
top of the list.
10. Click the character
11. Click the Select button and then the Copy button. You can now paste it
to the worksheet.

I doubt if the above is what you want but I think it's your only hope. I
have no experience beyond brief experimentation.

Regards,
Greg
