Sum values according to category (text)
I wish to sum cells in a column according to category in an adjacent
column |
=SUMIF(A:A,"value",B:B)

Thanks Bob but can I now drop into columns according to other
categories? In columns X to AC I am adding values from column G according to category with reference to column D. That part is OK I think, but then I want to further drop these totals according to category held in row 3 T to AB with reference to the drop down list in column O. If I get the principle right I can then make it more user friendly. Can anyone help? What am I doing wrong in cell Z8 which returns "#value"? |
Oscar,
Are you saying that you now want to make the sum dependent on two conditions? I think it might help if you gave some example data, and required results. -- HTH RP (remove nothere from the email address if mailing direct) "Oscar" wrote in message ups.com... Yes I am Bob, but I do not know how to attach a sample spredsheet of
what I am trying to do. Appologies for my ignorance. I include the contents of my text box. Oscar,
That is the same as you used previous post. Why don't you mail me the spreadsheet and I'll see if I can help then. -- HTH RP (remove nothere from the email address if mailing direct) "Oscar" wrote in message oups.com...
