I have a worksheet that has 3 columns and 24000 rows of data. There are
numerous duplicate records. I need to report how many individuals are using
the site and not how many hits (each record is a hit). I want to use a pivot
table report. I have been trying for two days to come up with a formula that
will give me a result using only unique records. I can do an advanced filter
and then subtotal, but I really want to utilize the pivot table reports and
charts. BIG feather in my cap if I can pull this off. PLEASE : ) HELP.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Step 1: sort the data on the username or usernumber or whatever the field is
that you want to dedupe.
Step 2: insert a column 4 in which you examine if the username cell in that
row is identical to the username cell in the previous one. Something like
=if(d5=d4,0,1). And then carry that formula all the way down.
Step 3. Sum column 4 and you'll get your count.
