Default Modellingwith Excel

Hi - I'm a student teacher and as part of my Maths course I need to do
a project using Excel to model something - WHAT???? I have know idea
what things I can model using Excel I'm pretty new to Exel but I am PC
literate so pick things up easy...if you could recommend any books that
would be useful.

Thank you so much for reading this and ideas would be appreciated.

Many people think of finance problems when 'model' is mentioned.
I am more interested in science / engineering applications
I can give you a model of a bouncing ball which derives an equation to
predict the height of successive bounces.
Email me at my private address if interested (remove TRUENORTH)
best wishes

How about the trajectory of a projectile through the air? This depends
on the initial velocity and the angle, and if you know the equations
then you will be able to derive positions after certain time intervals
and plot a graph - vary the angle and/or velocity to show what happens.

You could do Monte Carlo simulations, for example to estimate the value
of pi.

It all depends what level of Maths course you are taking.

Hope this helps.

This is how I got started in my modeling career:

This resource is excellent too (more advanced than the reference
above...don't be fooled by the word "Introductory" in the title...it is quite
advanced).

If you need some science-based models send me an email and I will get back
to you with several samples€¦
