Continue typing in a cell after leaving the workbook.

I would like to continue typing in a cell while toggling between pages.
Example: I want to type the number 123,465,789.10 in a cell and I only
complete 123,456 and I toggle to a web page (or another workbook) to get the
rest of the number and I want to go back to the workbook and continue typing
,789.10 where I left off. Sometimes Excel lets you do this and other times
it does not. When it does not, you have to start typing all over again when
you toggle back to your original page.

Thank you!

F2 lets you start where you left off.

Or when going back to excel, click the title bar rather than a blank
cell in the workbook. Or just click into the formula bar when switching
back to the program.

It will work if you toggle between the workbook in question and another
program, not if you toggle between different workbooks or different
sheets. One way to avoiding typing all over again is to press F2
when you return to the sheet you are typing in
