Why does the date change when copying?

Files that I created on a mac I am now accessing on a pc, whenever I go to
copy and paste a date from one of these files into a new document spreadsheet
the dates change. They go back in time 4 years and one day. This is very
frustrating, I have checked the 1904 box in the tools option calculation tab
and the dates go to what they should be but then all the new dates that I had
entered in that new file go ahead four years and 1 day. I work in a research
medical center and I can't have dates changing, I need accuracy. Please can
you help with this problem

I would not change the options in the Excel workbook.

Enter 1462 in an unused cell.

Copy that cell.

Select the incorrect MAC-dumped dates and EditPaste SpecialAddtOKEsc.
