Also, after you have done that you can set it up to work automatically, place
the degree symbol alone in an empty cell. Copy that cell and in the menu go
to Tools-Auto-Correct Options and insert someting you want to convert (I use
(*)) then paste the degree symbol into the with box and hit add. Now when you
type (*) you will get the degree symbol.

Try this:

When editing a cell....

Hold down the [alt] key....type 0176...release the [alt] key

There's your degree symbol: °

Does that help?

ALT + 0186(using numpad)

If you have a list of numbers to add the degree symbol to, select the data then
FormatCellsNumberCustom

Clear the dialog box then ALT + 0186

All numbers will have the degree symbol.

[alt]+0186 seems to return a BIGGER degree symbol than [alt]+0176

So, I looked them up.

According the the symbol dialog....
[alt]+0176 is the "degree symbol"

[alt]+0186 is the "MASCULINE ORDINAL INDICATOR", whatever that is.

Who names those things?

Ron

Never noticed the difference before you brought it up.

I have a little macro that adds the Chr(186) to numbers and don't know if I ever
tried the 176

Also have a couple macros that add m³ and m² to numbers.

I don't know who names these things, but probably has a Latin origin.
