have you tried?
=left(a2,15) or Sub leftif() For Each c In Selection c.Value = Left(c, 5) Next -- Don Guillett SalesAid Software "Iservthee" wrote in message ... I want to keep the first 15 characters in a column and delete everything after those characters. |
If youre data starts in range A2 then enter formula =left(a2,15) in cell B2
and fill down. "Iservthee" wrote: I want to keep the first 15 characters in a column and delete everything after those characters. |
Hi
one way is to use a helper column - e.g. with your data starting in A1, type in B1 =LEFT(A1,15) and then move your mouse over the bottom right hand corner of B1 until you see a + then double click - this will fill the formula down the column - now select column B and copy, click on cell A1 and choose edit / paste special - values column B can now be deleted. If you don't want to use a "helper" column - you can achieve what you want using code - please post back if you'ld like information on how to do this. Cheers JulieD "Iservthee" wrote in message ... Another way........
Select the column.....do Data Text to columns Fixed and set a column line where you want the break then select the undesired columns and tick "Do not import column" Vaya con Dios, Chuck, CABGx3 "Iservthee" wrote: I want to keep the first 15 characters in a column and delete everything after those characters. |
