Count number of occurences in 1 column only if something in anothe
 

I want to do a count the number of occurences with in 1 column, only if there
is a specific number in another column.

Ex: A1:A6 contains male or female
B1:B6 contains that persons answer to Question1 (either a 1 for yes or a 2
for no)

I want to count the number of males that answered yes to Question1

Is this possible?

=SUMPRODUCT(--($A$1:$A$6=$E2),--($B$1:$B$6=F$1))

where E2 houses a criterion value like Male and F1 1.

Try the following...

=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A6="male"),--(B1:B6=1))
