Different actions on a pivotal value
 

I'd like to execute a formula in a cell based on the value of another cell.
In my case the cell used as a reference can be one out of 5 values. Using
nested IF doesn't seem a clean and efficient solution. Is there anything more
elegant? Something like ON variable value - distinct outcomes.
