Rounding Time?

I need to keep track of compensatory time earned and accumulated.
Compensatory time is paid out at time and one-half. When calculating 7.75
hours worked at time and one-half, you get 11.625 hours. I need to round
this up to 11.75 hours. Can anyone help?

What is the general rule: round up __or__ down to the closest 1/4
hour; or always round __up__ to the closest 1/4 hour; or something else
altogether?

For example, what should 11.6 round to? What should 11.76 round to?

To always round up to the closest 1/4 hour, here is one way:

=0.25 * roundup(A1/0.25, 0)

Try that with 11.6 and 11.76, among others, and be sure you get the
desired results.

Rounding Time?

Use the mRound function that comes with the Analysis ToolPak in your Excel
Addins.
If you don't have it activated, got to ToolsAddins...
Click both the Analysis ToolPak and Analysis ToolPak-VBA
Select OK

=MROUND(7.75*1.5,0.25)
where...
..25 is the increments you want to round to.

Examples:
MROUND(7.75*1.5,0.25) or MROUND(11.625,0.25) evaluates to 11.75
MROUND(7.70*1.5,0.25) or MROUND(11.550,0.25) evaluates to 11.50
