Variable Addresses in Links
Have a single, subordinate spreadsheet (Summary) linked to many independent
spreadsheets (Team Member Status Reports). In the Summary (or subordinate) spreadsheet there are many references to cell values in the Independent spreadsheets such as: (A CELL) ='C:\Documents and Settings\USERID\Desktop\FOLDER_A\SUBFOLDER_AA\[01_STATUS.xls]TSPM_ Status_Report'!A3 Need to define the "Transmitting" spreadsheet name (01_STATUS.XLS in this example formula) to a name I have stored in a cell in the "Receiving" spreadsheet, thus allowing me to redirect the data collection from a particular cell in one spreadsheet to the SAME cell in another spreadsheet based on the value of a cell in the subordinate spreadsheet. In essence my question is how do I include information contained in one cell of a spreadsheet into the linking address of another cell in the same spreadsheet? Thanks in advance for your assistance. You'd think Microsoft could provide such functionality in Excel, wouldn't you? Disappointing they don't, innit? The work-arounds are listed in http://groups.google.com/group/micro...443753560f0075 (or http://makeashorterlink.com/?B34B15DCC ). |

Thank you for responding. Guess I will have to try another tack as I have
thousands of cells which would require these significant unique workarounds. Best regards, Chuck Hague "Harlan Grove" wrote: Chuck Hague wrote... ....
