Identify by color border the cells in a formula

The cells in a formula are "highlighted" by a color of different color, when
you place the cursor on the formula. Once I modified a Excel sheet this color
coding disappeared and it is almost impossible to track which cell affects
the formula. Why did it happened and how I restore this feature.
Thank you and HELP!!!

Identify by color border the cells in a formula

If you have more than 32 cells in a formula, the color coding disappears

Is this the case?
