how to concatenate operations

I want to be able to out from one cell to multiple cells i.e. something like

in cell B: =IF(<condition,output some text to cells A B, "")

the problem with turning this around (in the 'normal' spreadsheet manner) is
that a condition in cell A woulld involve a large number of cells (i.e.
hundreds) in a row but when the condition is in cell B is is far simpler.
This must be a common problem but I cannot see a 'simple' solution.

Thanks in advance.

You are not clear, give a (reduced) example.
