Copying a region in excel results in the entire worksheet being pa

Working with Excel and selecting a region to copy and paste into a Outlook
generated email results with the ENTIRE worksheet being pasted. If I use
Paste special "values" the expected results are given. This behavior of
pasting more than the selected area seems non intuitive. Could someone
please explain.
