Problems Sorting
I am trying to sort data that was emailed to me. I am only trying to
sort one column in descending order and this is what it does: 387 399 4,192 4,457 416 423 424 439 456 474 480 491 5,074 5,645 519 What is wrong with my settings that it is sorting this way instead of: 5645 5064 4457 etc. |

Your source data is probably text numbers. Try this to convert it to real
numbers. Enter 1 in a blank cell, then copy the cell. Select the source col, right-click paste special check "Multiply" OK. It should sort properly now. -- Max Singapore http://savefile.com/projects/236895 xdemechanik --- wrote in message ups.com... I am trying to sort data that was emailed to me. Not necessary to enter 1 & copy, etc. Just select a blank cell, copy it,
paste special & click Add. "Max" wrote in message ... Your source data is probably text numbers. Try this to convert it to real numbers. Enter 1 in a blank cell, then copy the cell. Agree. We Just need to ensure it's really a blank cell that's copied, not
one which contains a zero length null string or a whitespace <g. -- Max Singapore http://savefile.com/projects/236895 xdemechanik --- "Bob Umlas" wrote in message ... Not necessary to enter 1 & copy, etc. Just select a blank cell, copy it, paste special & click Add. |

I tried doing this, but it still did not correct the problem? The data
comes from a website, which was copied into an excel document and then emailed to me. I've done this before and have never had problems? Can you think of anything else that would cause this problem? Thanks Max wrote: Your source data is probably text numbers. Try this to convert it to real numbers. Enter 1 in a blank cell, then copy the cell.
