excel slow save etc
 

excel is very slow at saving and also if i am making alterations to the
sheet, column size etc.
The egg timer is there for long time?
Any ideas?

check your resource utilization. If using WinXP, press
Control-Alt-Delete to bring up resource indicator. In Win98 open up the
"system monitor" application. If the sheet is a large spread sheet, and
resource indicator indicates that you have only a small amount of unused
RAM, the delay may be a result of the machine having to swap lots of
information in and out of the virtual memory on the hard drive. If you
don't have enough RAM, consider adding more.

Alternatively, check to see what other applications are running, and
explore the impact of terminating those applications on the time
required to save the file. If your browser is "displaying" a web page
with lots of animation, the animation may be sucking up computer
resources even though the web page is hidden. In both Win98 and WinXP,
control-alt-delete will bring up a screen indicating what applications
are running.
