Default Excel Formulas

When I put in a simple formula(=Sum(a3:f3) ) and hit enter, the formula
goes in fine. Then, when I try copying the formula, it works fine, but the
numbers don't show up, only a dash like this - ?? I checked the cells and
the formula is entered correctly in each but numbers it should total don't
show up?

Thank you for any help anyone might have for me, denise:)

It sounds like the accounting format where any number
that equals zero is formatted as "-". Or maybe a custom
format. What do you see under Format Cells Number Tab?

Hi Jason and thank you for taking the time to write me on this. I will have
to wait til I am back at work tomorrow. These formulas work perfect on my
puter but this is on another gals and she is asking me for help and I could
not for the life of me find out what the deal was. Your thoughts sound right
to me. I know it's a "format" issue and I did click on the cells below and
each cell showed the formula as it should be but I did not go into cell
formatting. I will do that tomorrow:) Thank you so much and I will let you
know how it goes:) God bless, denise in bama:)

Be aware that if the "numbers" you are trying to sum are actually text,
then SUM will ignore them and get zero for the answer.

If that is the case, copy an empty cell, select all the cells that
contain text numbers and Edit|Paste Special|Add. (Reformatting changes
the display, but not the value of cells, and so will not convert from
text to numbers.)
