Excel should sort by month

It would be great if Excel could sort by month name, such as Jan, Feb, Mar,
etc.

Excel should sort by month

Create a helper column with this formula

=TEXT(A1,"mmm")

and sort by that column.

If your months (Jan, Feb...) are in A, use helper column with
=MATCH(A1,{"Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","June", ..........}, 0)

Gord Dibben

Excel should sort by month

While you're waiting for the developers to get around to it, try this.

Assume dates in column A

In B1 enter =MONTH(A1)

Double-click on the fill handle of B1 to copy down.

Sort on Column B
