Leading zeros lost in csv
 

I have a text column in Excel where numbers are stored like 001 or 001a.
When I save the file as csv, it deletes the leading zeros on the ones that
are like 001.

Any ideas?

Open the CSV file in Notepad or Wordpad to see the leading zeros.

If you re-open in Excel, you lose the leading zeros.

Instead of verifying that the leading 0's are there using excel, open the .CSV
file in notepad.

It's not the saving of the .CSV file that gets rid of the leading 0's. It's the
reopening in excel that removes them.
