need to ammend a formula

Hello all,

I have this formula in cell J308. It works great.
=$J297+3.08-SUM(COUNTIF($B308:$H308,"PTO")*8)

It takes the number from J297 adds 3.08 to it and comes up with a new total,
then it counts the number of times the letters "PTO" appears in cells
B308:H308 and subtracts 8 from the result every time PTO appears. If it finds
nothing, then it simply adds 3.08 to the old total and all is well.

My problem is that I want it to do that same calculation when it finds the
letters "SICK" or "PTO".
How can I add "SICK" to my original formula and still make it work the same?

Everytime i have tried to change it original formula, it wacks it out and I
get various problems instead of my new result.

Thanks for looking at this for me.

Hello Rob

One way:

=$J297+3.08-SUM(COUNTIF($B308:$H308,{"PTO","SICK"})*8)

Hi!

Try this:

=$J297+3.08-SUM(COUNTIF($B308:$H308,{"PTO","Sick"}))*8

BTW, you didn't need the SUM function before, but now you do!
