In Excel 2003 can you password protect a single page in excel?
I am working on a business budget in excel, and want to link to a
confidential payroll page. Is there a way to link to a payroll projection page in the same excel spreadsheet, and password protect a single page so that the viewer is not able to view the specific contents of the payroll page? |

maybe you should try to hide sheet with payrolle information and use
tools-protection-protect workbook "R Shields" <R wrote in message ... I am working on a business budget in excel, and want to link to a confidential payroll page. Nope.
If you want to put confidential information in excel, don't share it with others. Excel's protection isn't made to protect this kind of information. What do you consider as a "page"?
Generally a page is a printed section of a worksheet. Do you mean "worksheet" maybe? You can hide a single worksheet by FormatSheetHide. Then you would ToolsProtectionProtect Wokbook.......structure and windows. Enter a password and OK BUT..........Excel's internal protection is very weak and passwords can be easily cracked by users who can access the internet and search for "password crackers". You might get a little more protection from prying eyes if you use VBA code to make a sheet xlveryhidden but not much. The rule of thumb is..............if it is confidential material, leave it out of the workbook.
