What formula do you need to add to the first or original cell to allow the
contents of the copied cells below in a column to change to the content of
the first or original cell?

How do you do this if only numbers are in the cell?
If only text?
If both mixed with numers and text?

Thank you,
Jen

Put any number in cell A1. In B1 type =A1

Now change A1 and see B1 change, too.

If you want to copy A1, but have the cell where you paste it REFER to A1,
then:
1) copy A1,
2) select the cell where you want the result
3) use Editpaste specialpaste link

Instead of directly copying the cell, put a formula similar to the
following in the cells you want to have the same value as the original
cell.

=$A$1 (If your original cell is A1 -- change as appropriate)

The only limitation this puts on you is that only way you can change
all values at once is to change the original cell (if you type over one
of the copied cells, only that cell will change).

Second, if your original cell is a text cell (Format Cells - Number =
Text), then you have to make sure for the copied cells where you stick
the formula in to have the Format Cells - Number = General (The format
can still be text for the original cell).
