Default Personal Macro Book and VBE showing

At work, when I unlock my computer after it has either "timed out" or
been locked, the VBE will be showing a module of the Personal.xlsb
even if there is no Excel workbook open. Another person at work just
told me that she has experienced the same thing. Does any one know
anything about this phenomenon?

No workbook open, but obviously Excel is still running if you can access the
VBE.

It is normal for Personal macro workbook to be open in that case.

I get that the Personal macro book would be "open" if the Excel
application is running but why would it sometimes display a random
module in the VBE while other times it remains hidden and some other
application that I have open is displayed?

Not sure what you are saying.

Personal.xls should remain hidden at all times if you have saved as hidden.

"Hidden" means you will not see any Personal.xls worksheets on screen when Excel
is running.

When you hit Alt + F11 to open VBE you will see Personal.xls in the Project
Explorer.

You may have opened a module for editing or just to have a look?
