Default How can I make this formula work?

=SUMIF(A2(LEFT(A2:A2966;9)):A2966;$K$1;I2:I2966)
or should it be
=SUMIF(LEFT(A2:A2966;9);$K$1;I2:I2966)
I'm using this formula for as you can see nearly 3000 rows, is there another
way of doing it?
