My accounting department has trouble seeing multiple cells in different areas
of the spread sheet that they have selected in Excel 2007 because the shading
is so light. We've tried changing the template color scheme and grid line
color, but it doesn't change the selected cell shade. Any suggestions would
be welcome!

If you want a permanent fix for the selected cells coloring in Excel 2007
here is a Registry hack.

StartRun regededit.exe

Drill down to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\E xcel\Options

Right-click on Options6 and ModifyDecimal........change the 32 to 16

When you select multiple cells all but the active cell will be black.
