Best Practices - Workbook security & macros
 

I have developed an Excel 2007 Workbook that uses vba quite extensively for
allowing privileges, determining the user's Excel version, hiding,
protecting, etc. In the privileges area, external users have the "PLY"
commandbar shutdown so the cannot browse through the internal sheets. They
also have different ribbon tabs, groups and buttons.

However, the Workbook template will be placed on the Internet for download
by potential partners (external users) as well as hackers no doubt. If it is
placed in a non-trusted location and run the Microsoft "enable macros" comes
up and, if the user doesn't enable macros the keyboard commands are
available which allows full control over the contents of the Workbook.

What are the ways and means to protect the content until such time that
macros have been enabled? I will certainly place a password on the VBA
project but would making all sheets xlVeryHidden do much?

face this problem.
