how to getting menu text
 

hi friends,
i am new to programming..i am working on vc++6.0 and xp. i want to know and
write in a file which menu item is clicked(for MS-Excel2003). i mean i want
to get the text of the menu item. how can we achive this...i tried to use
hooking and monitored with spy++ but i not able to get which msg is
generating when user clicks on a menu item...

is it possible with hooking? i am in right way or not? if there is another
method to do this plz tell me...i am seraching from one week..
