ExecuteExcel4Macro in GetValue not working
 

G'Day All,

I've used John Walkenbach's GetValue to retrieve values from closed
many time with no problems.

Two days ago the method failed when using a workbook created via a DLL
in another system.

It seems the format is wrong. e.g if the system created workbook is
opened and saved as an Excel workbook in any format from Excel 5.0/95
and above, GetValue works on the newly saved workbook.

If the system cretade workbook is opened in Excel and saved in Excel
4.0 format, GetValue fails to work with the newly saved workbook.

Can anyone confirm that ExecuteExcel4Macro in GetValue is dependent on
the format of the supposedly Excel file?

Can anyone then explain why it ExecuteExcel4Macro doesn't like Excel
4.0 files?
