Protected Sheet and allowing External Data Refresh
 

Hi
I posted this in PE Worksheets, but was advised to try here.

here is my query.

I have protected my worksheet to stop users from chaning information, but
now the Refesh External Data does not run.
I need to unlock the worksheet to run it, but i don't want the users to do
this.

Is there a way to enable the refresh data while the worksheet is still
protected?

if the refresh is forced by a macro (ie VBA) you could possibly unprotect
the sheet before refreshing then protect it again afterwards?

I have a similar issue and I am unable to get the data refesh/update - can
somebody please advice? The code that I am using is:

Private Sub Workbook_Open()

ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll
ActiveSheet.Protect Password:="test2", _
DrawingObjects:=False, Contents:=True, Scenarios:= _

I get the error saying data can not be refreshed - unprotect the sheet!!

I have the Background Refresh and Refresh on Open UNCHECKED.
