passing value to excel 2007 document solution on web server
I have created an Excel workbook customization with vsto 2008 and have
published it to one of our intranet servers. All is good, however, I need to pass a value to that that workbook so that it loads with the appropriate data. Is there a way to do this? Tried http://OurIntranetServer/MyExcelWork...sx%20/e/12345/ and hoped to capture the command line arguments. Didn't work. Thanks. |

If you can display the page with the data you need in a browser, then Excel
can pick up the data by using the "Get External Data" utilities. These utilities are not hard to use, however you usually get a bit more data than you want. You will have to paste the URL of the web page into the query and then make some decisions about tables and formatting and stuff. Make sure you start the "Get External Data" utilities while you are on a blank worksheet at cell A1. When the query is finished and you are returned to the worksheet there will be a small delay then the data you requested will show up on the worksheet. Check it out.
