calculating nonblank cells with conditions
I used check marks in a spreadsheet. Some of the cells have a pattern
(yellow) to as an identifier. I need to be able to count the number of cells that have the yellow pattern. I used the formula =COUNTA(RANGE) which adds all the nonblank cells in the column, but now I need to isolate the cells in the specific row that have the yellow pattern. Please advise. Thank you. |

If you write VBA code you can check the activecell.interior.color property.
First I guess you should retrieve this value from one of the cells that are "yellow" in order to find out which number represents it and then test the other cells against this value. I don't know if there is a way to test directly in a worksheet cell with a function, or if it is acceptable for the user to run a command with i.e. a button in order to count them. Maybe someone else can help more. "DB" wrote: I used check marks in a spreadsheet. Some of the cells have a pattern (yellow) to as an identifier. Oops - mistake. I should have written interior.pattern.color.
