Excel Import External Data Wizard

Hi all,

can anybody point me a control, which is similar to the one used as Data
Preview in Text Import Wizard - Step 3 of 3 in Data-Import External Data
menu. I would like to use exactly the same functionality like the control
mentioned above. What control are actually the Excel guys using to import
external data?

Thanks

No sure what you are trying to do. One thing you can do is to record a macro
while performing the text import and see the commands that get executed. You
can also open a text file and read the data row by row and perform your own
conversion. Using the Split function in VBA will seperate the data by a
delimiter just like Text-To-Columns.

If you want to give the user different options for the import, you can write
your own Userform so the user can select options and then depending on the
results do a Query (which is used by the text import function) seting the
options the user selects on the userform.

Hi Joel,

thank you for your prompt response.

This is exactly what I am trying to achieve. However, I would like to use
the grid-like control mentioned above. I already wrote my own form but used a
MSFlexGrid in it, so when used on client's machine it gets a license problem.

Have you got another idea?

thanks

No sure why you are using MSFlexGrid. You could open an new excel
application making it invisible and then pasting the data in to a spreadsheet
and sorting.
