Excel File Suddenly Grew 7X in Size - Very Slow Now

I checked on the forum before posting and tried deleting rows/columns,
didn't work. When I hit Ctrl-End it only goes to O27.

There is hardly anything in this spreadsheet, it is half a page and
has two macro buttons, one to print/email, one to create a new tab.

Since 2006 it was always around 700kb, now it is 5 mb. When you key
in text or a number the hourglass appears and it takes 1-2 seconds.
Saving is no longer than usual.

Did you try removing all the formating from the columns and rows not
in use?

That helped reduce my file size.

Thanks, I did, with no effect. I also checked for EMF files, there
were none.

What type of formatting?

Simply formatting empty rows and columns should not increase file size.

This might work.

1st Method
Try deleting any extra worksheets, then on the active sheet go to column P
highlight all columns to the right edge of workbook then right click Delete.
Next go to row 28 highlight all rows to the bottom of the workbook then right
click Delete. Press Crtl-Home. Save the workbook and close it. Use Explore
to check file size.

2nd Method
Copy A1:O27 into a new workbook. Copy the macros into the VBA editor and
start with a fresh small file size.

Thanks. I deleted 3 of the worksheets and then deleted all of the
columns/rows not used in the remaining one.
File size is 640kb. I then copied that worksheet over 3 times to
restore the data and file size is about 2.4 mb. This is unusual, on
my other workbooks with the same data the file size with 21 worksheets
is 1.8 mb.

There is nothing pointing to data outside the worksheet or any charts/
graphs or the like. The total data is less than 300 characters + two
buttons with very small macros. Curiously every time I key in data it
pauses with the hourglass.
