personal.xls always opening??
 

Hi All,

Since doing something to personal.xls (I think it was removing the read only
on the file so that I could edit macros) it now always opens when I open
Excel. Everything is ok, its just that I occasional start to put stuff into
it by accident..

Does this mean that I have done something wrong or do I just have to put up
with it?

When you say "it now always opens" that's what it should do but do you mean
you can "see" it, ie it's visible. If so follow this -

With Personal.xls the active workbook,
Window / Hide
Now close Excel, you should get a prompt asking if you want to save
Personal, click yes

Before doing that, if you have edited code in the VBE, close all its code
modules (small x top right of the VBE) and collapse the tree in project
explorer (top left panel in the VBE)

activate personal.xls then menu window - hide
should work

And to add a bit more to Snake's(!) response.

After you've hidden the personal.xls file, close excel. You'll be prompted to
save your personal.xls (as hidden). Answer yes to this prompt and your
personal.xls will stay hidden (until you change it back!).
