macro to show File Comments property
I have a set of macros that runs a recursive search on the current directory
and creates an index of that directory. Curently it shows the file name, extension, creation date, modified date and the relative path for the file. I would also like it to show the information (if any) in the Comments field of the File Properties window, but cannot determine how to obtain this information during the "find file" process. Thanks in advance |

I'm not exactly sure what you have there, but this may help:
http://www.contextures.com/excelfiles.html#Comments http://www.contextures.com/xlcomments03.html#Number Or, maybe this: http://www.contextures.com/xlcomments03.html HTH, Ryan--- -- RyGuy "TomH" wrote: I have a set of macros that runs a recursive search on the current directory and creates an index of that directory. These examples work with comments within the current workbook.
the comments I am trying to access are those that you see when you examine the properties of a file (the files in windows explorer) and look in the "Comments" block. Hummm, this is interesting...I've never dealt with that before. I'll bet it
can be done, but this is a notch or two above where I am with VBA. Hope someone else can help you out. Without seeing your code, perhaps you can add this statement in somewhere.
ActiveWorkbook.BuiltinDocumentProperties("Comments ") Will return the FileProperty Comments. i know how to access the comments for the curent active workbook. what I am
trying to do is to create an index listing all ofthe files in the current folder and subfolders and list certain file properties for each file. I already have the name, created date, modified date and path. I would like to add the file comments to the set of properties. I am using the FindFirstFile and FindNextFile functions to obtain the properties of the files in the folder.
