Default Monthly maintenance reminder

I am trying to set up a color timer that alerts me when i need to service my
equipment. I have alot of different machines that need attention at arbitrary
times.
For instance; every 60 days and every 400 hrs.

Also, i was wondering if it is possible to set up a cell to show the
equipment name, then just turn red when it is time to performe maintenance.

Can this be done?

Thanks in advance for for all your time.

i have done something like this. for instance,

MACHINE: LAST SERVICE DATE:
Konica Copymachine 12/15/08

then on the column next to the date (say for instance, C1), you insert
the next service date (mine says =B1+30). then i have conditional
formatting on C1 which states

Condition 1
Cell value is between =today()-10 and =today()
+10
format (i use a color)

i have the spreadsheet open automatically every week using task
manager, and just check my colorations. if something in C1 or C2 or
C3 or whatever is colored, it needs my attention. after i perform the
required maintenance, then i change the last service date in B1 to
today. C1 automatically resets.

hope that gives you an idea.

Thank you Susan,
I will deffinatly try that.
One nice trick I learned to do with XL2007 is alternating colors between
rows (it helps with my eyes).
You probably already know it but here is the link that explains how to do
it:
