Disappearing Personal.xls
Excel XP & Win XP
I've got one that doesn't make a bit of sense. I've got a user that has an Excel file on his desktop. If he opens just the Excel program, he has a hidden Personal.xls file.(Windows - Unhide - there it is). Now comes the problem. If Excel is closed and he double-clicks on his desktop file icon, Excel opens and the file opens and Personal.xls is not there ( Unhide is grayed out). I asked and he doesn't have any other version of Excel on his computer. Does anyone have any idea what is happening? Thanks for your time. Otto |
Disappearing Personal.xls
Hi,
Most likely there is a server location for the Personal.xls file and a local hard drive location. In one case Excel is looking to one and in the other to the other. This file is usually located in the Program Files\Microsoft\Microsoft Office\XLStart folder on the C:\ but it's exact location on the server depends on the install. You can track it down by looking for XLStart folder. -- Thanks, Shane Devenshire "Otto Moehrbach" wrote: Excel XP & Win XP I've got one that doesn't make a bit of sense.
